As a first post I want to stay inside the kitchen of Constant. I’m really fascinated by Roseware, an installation by Chris Marker and Laurence Rassel which was co-produced by Constant. It was exhibited at the end of the nineties in amongst others the Museum for Fine Arts in Brussels, Fondacio Antonio Tapies in Barcelona, Centro de Arte Contemporaneo in Sevilla and the Video and Media Art festival in Bonn.

As a student I had the opportunity to participate in this study I mentioned in my previous post. An article I read for my paper and still is really appealing to me was Still a Novel by Chris Dercon. He wrote it in 2001 thinking back about the exhibition Still/A Novel he curated in Witte de With already in 1996. I didn’t find an on line link to the article so I posted it in one piece. (Sorry)

In 2001 a research group of the department of Comparative Sciences of Culture at the University of Ghent made study on the Forum for Music, Dance and Audiovisual Culture (a.k.a De Krook). It meant to be a radical rethinking of the traditional role of a cultural institution and made a plea for a ‘de-musealisation’ of the arts meaning that an Arts institution should be dynamic, transparant and fluctual instead of the closed box it most of the times seems to be. Below there is a synopsis and here you can find the complete study. Unfortunatly there only is a dutch version.
