Quotes
Two quotes from a book by Immanual Wallerstein on ‘The Uncertainties of Knowledge’ that I’ve been reading. They are not directly related to this blog but they surely will be in the back of my mind when working on it.
“Thus quiescence among the relevant experts is taken to be consent, and this consensus reassures us and allows us to incorporate new thruths into our personal knowledge-storage system, wheras disputation arouses skeptisism in us about the truth claim. This means that we do not defer to single experts but rather to self-constituted communities of experts”. (I. Wallerstein, 2004, p.9)
“In short, what we need is a methodological road map, itself filled with uncertainties, in order to ascertain plausible interpretations of uncertain social realities.” (I. Wallerstein, 2004, p.42)
